And that’s exactly why we built Profile Verification — a simple, secure way to bring more authenticity to every match on Coffee Meets Bagel.
With a quick video selfie, we confirm that your main profile photo really is you — no catfishing, no impersonation, no weird surprises.
And it’s not just great for safety. When you’re verified, you’re signaling to other daters, “Hey, this is the real me, and I’m here to make real connections.” That openness makes it easier for others to engage, trust, and build something special.
How verification works (It’s so easy, we promise)
Once you’re ready to show other daters you’re the real deal, just follow a few quick steps:
At the top of your profile page, tap “Verify my profile.”
2. You’ll be prompted to take a short video selfie. Pro tip: Find a space with bright, soft lighting, and be sure you’re not hiding behind a hat or sunglasses.
3. From there, our facial verification technology will compare your video selfie to your main profile photo to ensure they match.
4. Once you’re approved (usually within minutes!), a shiny Verified badge appears on your profile. Think of it as a little trust booster for potential matches.
And that’s it! Like we said, pretty easy. Just one heads up: If your look changes a lot and doesn’t match your selfie anymore, we might ask you to re-verify to make sure everything’s on the up-and-up.
Still on the fence? Profile Verification is optional, but consider this: verified profiles often feel more credible, which can lead to better conversations and more high-quality matches. Sounds like a win-win, if you ask us!
Your privacy, protected
We know that whenever talk of selfies, scans, or face verification enters the chat, privacy can be a bit of a concern — especially when you’re uploading something to an app.
But we want to reassure you that we don’t take this matter lightly, and your privacy is always at the top of our priority list (followed by finding you someone special, of course 😉). So here’s a few things to call out:
Your biometric data is not stored on CMB servers. Your verification results and photos are securely kept by our trusted partner, so we can reuse your verified selfie when you upload new photos. That way, you don’t need to repeat the process.
Your selfie is just between us and is only used for safety and fraud prevention purposes.
If you delete your CMB account, your verification data goes with it.
